Actions Taken Without Considering the Consequences of Irresponsible Behavior: Zakharova
French authorities are escalating their stakes in the confrontation with Russia and exacerbating the Ukrainian conflict, contrary to their national interests. This statement was made by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“As if lost in the pages of history, against their own national interests, they are raising the stakes in the confrontation with our country. They are inflating the flames of the Ukrainian crisis, completely disregarding the consequences of their irresponsible actions,” Zakharova stated in reference to the anniversary of General Charles de Gaulle's visit to Moscow on December 2, 1944.
Zakharova noted that France emerged among the victorious countries of World War II largely due to the position of the Soviet leadership. She recalled that 80 years ago, de Gaulle's visit to Moscow culminated in the signing of a bilateral treaty on union and mutual assistance, which laid the foundation for “post-war comprehensive cooperation between the USSR and France.”
