Alen Simonian Threatens Agazaryan: "Hraparak"
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the meeting between Alen Simonian and Hovik Agazaryan lasted about 40 minutes the day before. The Speaker of the National Assembly, who was the initiator of the meeting, spoke mostly during the discussion. Recall that Agazaryan had promised to respond to the Prime Minister’s "request" regarding the resignation of his mandate on Monday at 18:00. He was resolute in stating he would not resign, but unexpectedly announced after the meeting with Simonian that he was postponing the publication of his decision for a few days as there were still questions to clarify.
Yesterday, in response to a media question about whether Simonian threatened and insulted him, which put him under psychological pressure, Agazaryan replied, "I would prefer Alen Simonian to threaten me than what he did to me.” However, he did not elaborate on what Simonian had done. He stated that he was not offended: "Where would he be if he offended me? He would have gotten a response. He didn't say anything bad; he just pressured me in another sense." According to the daily, Agazaryan is incorrect; Simonian not only insulted him but also ridiculed him, saying, "Why did you put yourself in the place of a movie star and go against the system, the state, and statehood?" Along the way, he threatened Agazaryan, reminding him about his brother's wife, stating that when he was the Speaker of the National Assembly, he did not oppose the Prime Minister.
In short, Simonian belittled and pressured Agazaryan in every possible way, resulting in Agazaryan postponing his decision. However, from his Q&A session, it became clear that the decision might not be published for another year or year and a half. He said, "As long as I haven't met my Russian friend, I won't make it public, and I can't say when my friend will come to Yerevan."
