Who Will Trump Appoint as Special Envoy for the Russia-Ukraine Conflict?

The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, is considering the possibility of creating a special envoy position for the issues related to the Russia-Ukraine war and wants to appoint former U.S. Ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, to this position. This was reported by Reuters, citing four sources. The information is relayed by Meduza.

"Currently, there is no such position within the administration, but Trump is seriously considering the possibility of its creation," the sources said, adding that there is no guarantee that Grenell will agree to take the role.

Grenell served as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany during Trump’s first term from 2018 to 2020 and acted as the Director of National Intelligence from February to May 2020.
