VIDEO. New Details on the Murder of a 46-Year-Old and Minors in Artashat

In the framework of the criminal proceedings conducted by the Investigative Committee of the Ararat region, several circumstances surrounding the murder of two residents of Artashat city have been clarified, and charges have been filed against five individuals.

On November 8, 2024, at 21:00, a report was received from the Artashat Medical Center about four citizens seeking medical assistance for gunshot wounds, one of whom had died.

During the preliminary investigation initiated into the incident, urgent investigative activities were carried out, including inspections of the crime scene, where fired cartridges, blood-like traces, and a vehicle with gunshot wounds were discovered. Searches were conducted, items were confiscated, several individuals were interrogated, and relevant examinations were appointed.

According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, on November 8, 2024, a 46-year-old resident of Artashat called a 45-year-old fellow citizen and suggested meeting regarding a dispute that had previously occurred between their children. On the same day, around 20:30, according to an agreement, the 46-year-old man, along with his son, brother, his nephew, a 22-year-old local resident, and other unidentified individuals, armed with a 12mm caliber hunting rifle, other types of weapons, sharp objects, and wooden sticks, went to the residence of the 45-year-old man located on Azatutyan Street in Artashat, near a kindergarten, for clarification.

During a dispute that arose at the location, one of the participants, with the intent to unlawfully deprive someone of life, hit the 45-year-old man on the head with a thick wooden piece, causing him to fall to the ground. Subsequently, the 46-year-old man, his son, brother, nephew, the 22-year-old young man, and other unidentified individuals, in mutual agreement and with the intention to commit murder, struck the bleeding 45-year-old man with their hands and feet while he was lying on the ground.

He, having taken a “MR” type hunting rifle registered in his father’s name from their house, fired several shots at the 46-year-old man and his brother, resulting in life-threatening injuries to the latter. During this time, the 46-year-old man and an unidentified individual fired shots at the 45-year-old man with their hunting weapons in a manner dangerous to the life of others, causing him injuries to his head and left hand. However, due to the intervention of other individuals present at the scene, these perpetrators did not complete the crime.

Moreover, showing contempt for human life, the 46-year-old man and his accomplices, with the intent to unlawfully deprive the life of the 45-year-old man's son, struck various parts of the minor's body with different objects and fired shots at him by an unidentified individual. One of their accomplices also struck the minor on the back with a cutting-piercing object. As a result, the 45-year-old man’s minor son sustained life-threatening injuries.

Based on sufficient evidence obtained, charges have been brought against the 46-year-old resident of Artashat, his son, nephew, and the 22-year-old young man under Articles 44-155, parts 2, points 7, 8 and Article 155, part 2, points 5, 8 of the RA Criminal Code, and against the 45-year-old man under Article 334, part 1 and Article 155, part 2, point 7 of the RA Criminal Code. A petition has been submitted to the court for the application of custody as a measure of restraint against these individuals. The preliminary investigation continues.
