911, 102, 103 Emergency Numbers to be Discontinued: How Citizens Can Make Emergency Calls
The government has presented a draft proposal aimed at approving a strategy for reforms in the police sector and an action plan for 2024-2026. According to Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan, the new approach focuses on operational and efficient response to public calls.
“A unified national operational management center, 112, is anticipated to be established, which will lead to the discontinuation of emergency call responses via separate numbers 911, 102, and 103. Citizens will receive assistance for their calls through a single phone number, ensuring rapid service from a single point. This is set to be implemented by 2026,” he stated.
Ghazaryan emphasized that the initiative also underlines the importance of addressing crime prevention, with plans to develop a comprehensive action program for crime prevention. “The latest direction for the establishment of police stations will be activated, known as the police guard. The strategy will also touch upon sensitive issues concerning human rights protection, including the establishment of mechanisms for recording alleged cases of ill-treatment, a unified surveillance system for police stations and police service units, as well as enhancing the effectiveness of the right to personal data protection,” he added.
All these measures aim to provide more professional service to the public, ensure a safer environment in the republic, and strengthen public trust, leading to its continuous growth,” concluded Vahe Ghazaryan.
