Iran to Involve Regular Army, WSJ Reports

Iran may expand the scale of its retaliation against Israel, involving not only the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps but also the regular army. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.

The newspaper highlights that Tehran has made this decision in light of the casualties among Iranian military personnel and civilians resulting from Israel's recent strikes. However, it is noted that the Islamic Republic's response will not imply the deployment of troops in the region.

On October 1, Iran launched a large-scale missile attack on Israel in response to the killings of leaders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, and key personnel of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Israel has promised to retaliate for the attacks.

On October 26, the Israeli army announced that it was striking military targets in Iranian territory in response to “numerous ongoing attacks.” In a statement, the Islamic Republic's air defense forces indicated that military targets in Ilam, Tehran, and Khuzestan provinces were under attack, but damages were limited, and the main strike was successfully repelled.

The attacks resulted in at least four Iranian soldiers and one civilian being killed.
