Iran to Strike Israel Within Days, Axios Reports

Iran is preparing to launch a significant strike on Israel from Iraqi territory within days, in response to the recent attack by the Jewish state. This was reported by the Axios portal, referencing Israeli intelligence sources.

According to the report, Tehran is likely to conduct an operation involving a large number of drones and ballistic missiles ahead of the U.S. general elections scheduled for November 5. The portal states that the attack will emanate from Iraqi, not Iranian territory, as Iran seeks to avoid further Israeli strikes on its strategic targets.

A source within the Washington administration informed Axios that the U.S. does not know whether Iranian authorities have decided to carry out an attack in the near future.

On October 26, the Israeli Defense Forces announced that they were targeting military facilities within Iran in response to "numerous ongoing attacks." The statement indicated that the Islamic Republic's air defense forces reported attacks on military targets in Ilam, Tehran, and Khuzestan provinces, but damage was limited, and air defense systems successfully repelled the main assault. The Israeli strikes resulted in the deaths of at least four Iranian soldiers and one civilian.
