‘Putin is Demanding Him’: Aliyev to Pashinyan
On October 24, the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers participated in the negotiations between Aliyev and Pashinyan. During the meeting, the issue of prisoners was discussed. When Ararat Mirzoyan suggested to Aliyev that in exchange for participating in COP-29, at least some of the captured servicemen should be returned, and assured him that he would personally go to Baku to attend the event, instead of answering the question, Aliyev directed a question to Pashinyan.
This was reported by ‘Hraparak’. “Why don’t you demand Ruben Vardanyan?” Aliyev asked. “Because I know you won’t give him back,” Pashinyan replied.
Aliyev continued, “Instead, they are demanding him from another country, Putin is demanding him.”
Notably, Ararat Mirzoyan recounted this conversation to the members of the ruling party during a closed meeting that took place on Friday evening.
