Pashinyan's Proposal to Azerbaijan

Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on all fundamental issues to create the foundations for peace. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the BRICS+/Outreach summit in Kazan.

He added that the draft peace agreement with Baku has been agreed upon by at least 80-90 percent. “We propose to Azerbaijan to sign the peace agreement already,” Pashinyan remarked.

According to him, Armenia is interested in ensuring international transportation communications and pipelines through its territory and is ready to independently guarantee their security.

“Once again, I emphasize that Armenia is capable of and will fully ensure the safety of the transportation of people and goods through its territory. We guarantee this. All claims that Armenia has agreed to have any third country ensure the security of communications in its sovereign territory, or that this is stated in any document, are not true,” the Prime Minister said.

Pashinyan noted that Yerevan has proposed simplified procedures for border and customs control to ensure communication with Nakhchivan. “We have proposed Azerbaijan to simplify the procedures for border and customs control mechanisms, as well as to undertake additional security measures, taking into account the legislation of our countries and full respect for sovereignty,” Pashinyan stated.
