We Always Warn About the Dangers: Russian Foreign Ministry
According to Alexei Polishchuk, director of the second department for the CIS countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ukraine's accession to NATO under current circumstances would undermine the political and diplomatic resolution opportunities of the conflict in Ukraine and inevitably make the alliance directly involved in military actions against Russia.
Earlier, Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that under the current circumstances, NATO's acceptance of Ukraine would signal the beginning of World War III.
“We have always warned about the dangers of NATO's membership for Ukraine,” Polishchuk emphasized in response to a request for comment on Szijjarto's statement. He highlighted that under the current conditions, possible membership for Ukraine would “undermine the possibilities for political and diplomatic resolution, make the alliance’s immediate involvement in military actions against Russia unavoidable, and lead to uncontrollable escalation, for which the responsibility will entirely fall on the Western curators of the Kiev regime.”
“We hope that there are reasonable politicians in the leadership of the alliance who realize what disastrous consequences NATO's invitation to Ukraine could have,” the diplomat concluded.
