Agreement Between Armenia and Turkey

Armenia and Turkey have agreed to jointly assess the technical requirements for crossing the border via the Gyumri-Kars railway. This was announced by the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs in Istanbul.

"This complements the already implemented decisions regarding the establishment of direct flights between Armenia and Turkey and the mutual lifting of restrictions on air freight," Mirzoyan stated during the ministerial meeting of the 3+3 platform.

According to Mirzoyan, the operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway will ensure immediate effective connectivity between the Gulf region, the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea, alongside the railway link between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"We have proposed ways for Azerbaijan to reopen our railway infrastructure, simplify the border crossing and customs procedures, and provide additional mechanisms for security with full respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction of both countries," Mirzoyan noted.
