Simonyan on the Incident in the National Assembly
It is unacceptable to insult or disrespect the head of the Investigative Committee, who is the head of a law enforcement agency, because that agency works in a very complex and heavy field with specific characteristics. At the same time, it is also unacceptable to be disrespectful towards the deputies. I consider this entirely unacceptable.
This was stated by the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, in an interview with 'Azatutyun' while addressing the recent incident in the National Assembly involving the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Argit Kyaramyan, and the deputy from the ruling party, Hovik Aghazaryan.
According to him, the issue related to the incident is under discussion and will continue to be discussed within the ruling party. 'We also have a disciplinary process within the ruling party concerning this incident involving the deputies, which we will address in upcoming meetings of the council,' Simonyan noted, without specifying which deputy or deputies were involved.
He indicated that it might turn out that other deputies, in addition to Aghazaryan, also 'did something.' 'There is an investigation. There is also an inquiry regarding the head of the Investigative Committee, but already within the limits of their authority. It is a service inquiry,' he said.
Alen Simonyan expressed that he is unaware and has not heard discussions regarding the ruling party initiating a signature collection for the dismissal of Investigative Committee Chairman Kyaramyan, similar to what was done regarding the Minister of Justice. 'I do not know; such a thing has not been discussed,' he said, adding that comparing these two incidents is 'not appropriate.'
