Why Members of Mihran Poghosyan's Party Were Arrested: Details
Eight members of Mihran Poghosyan's party, the 'Unity of the Armenian Nation', were arrested and taken to the police station on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, as reported by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
Earlier, the party announced that around 23:15 last night, Vice President Ararat Avetisyan, party board members Hayk Stepanyan, Armine Simonian, and several other members of the youth union were apprehended.
'Eight individuals were arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition and were taken to the Shengavit division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while one individual was also arrested on the same suspicion and taken to the Central division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,' Sargsyan stated.
According to him, eight of the arrested individuals have already been released, while one has been referred to the investigative body.
It is noteworthy that Ararat Avetisyan, the vice president of the 'Unity of the Armenian Nation' party, and spokesperson Hayk Stepanyan were also arrested in August and were subsequently released.
