Grossi Issues Statement After Meeting with Lukashenko
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has stated that he intends to visit the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) following his meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. This information was reported by RIA Novosti.
“I am planning to visit the Belarusian NPP in Ostrovets to ensure that both power units are operating as they should,” Grossi said.
He emphasized that the IAEA understands the importance of the Belarusian NPP for the Belarusian economy. Grossi clarified that during his visit to Minsk, he discussed the safety of nuclear facilities in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine with Lukashenko.
Prior to this, Lukashenko stated during a meeting with Russia that Ukraine is spreading fake news, claiming that Belarus intends to seize the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (NPP). Grossi arrived in Belarus today and plans to hold high-level meetings in Minsk, as well as visit the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
