Alen Simonian on Cancelling Visit to Canada

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, wrote on Telegram: "How the opposition in Armenia caused a regime change in Canada. Our God's gift, the opposition, is now also busy with inspiration from its media, claiming that my visit to Canada has been postponed because there is no opposition MP in the delegation I lead. A person shouldn't be so unserious and ridiculous as you are. It’s good that they aren’t saying that they caused a political crisis in Canada, which is why new elections are being prepared there now. So, give yourselves hope, engage in self-deception, and then wonder with wide eyes why nothing works out for you. It didn’t work out and it won’t work out; I’ve said it before and I will say it again – no matter how many state building doors we leave open, you will not become the government.

I decided to cancel the visit to Canada, only I, after discussing with my Canadian counterpart, lest the unexpectedly initiated pre-election processes make it impossible for part of the planned meetings. The composition of the delegation is determined by me based on the invitation I received. The opposition should not attend the meetings, should not perform their required work, decline to go anywhere other than Europe and Canada, while the state buys tickets, books hotels, and we go to the airport to be told, 'You know, I lost my passport; Serzh won’t let me, Kocharyan won’t let me, the Bureau is against it, and I left my diary at home.' So relax, dear ones, you have no serious influence on anything even within Armenia, not even your voters who elected you in 2021 come to your gatherings, so it’s unlikely you will be in higher demand in Canada.

By the way, my visit to Hungary on September 17-19 has also been canceled due to flooding, and there was no opposition MP in the delegation that was supposed to accompany me; you can exploit that too, claiming that there was no opposition member in the delegation and the floods started. If there had been a good clergyman in the delegation, the clouds over Hungary would have parted, the water would have been divided, and the visit to Hungary would have taken place. P.S. For three days now, we have been asking opposition factions to join us on a trip to Tajikistan, but they refuse and are not coming; however, I hope that the visit will take place. )))))
