Ruben Vardanyan Responds to Pashinyan’s Statements from Baku Prison
During an interrogation in Baku prison, Ruben Vardanyan was asked questions related to the statements made about him during the recent press conference by the Prime Minister of Armenia, according to Vardanyan's office.
In a phone call with his family, after confirming that such statements were indeed made, Ruben Vardanyan requested to convey the following message to the public in an open format:
“First of all, every person judges others’ actions based on their own life models and principles. Secondly, if the Prime Minister had any questions for me, he had the opportunity to address them during our last meeting in November 2022, when I was also serving as the Minister of State. In any case, I am still willing, within my current capacity, to answer any of his questions.
Thirdly, I want to remind the Prime Minister that in the spring of 2018, when we first met as partners, I sincerely presented him with three points, which I have maintained and will continue to uphold:
- 1. We, as partners, do not wish to interfere in the political affairs of Armenia.
- 2. We engage in charity regardless of our attitudes towards the Armenian authorities, as we do this for the people. For me, helping people remains an important issue and a crucial humanitarian mission.
- 3. The only thing that can alter my stance is the fate of Artsakh. The 2020 war and the ongoing threats towards Artsakh have been pivotal moments for me, as I have openly and consistently stated. Since then, all my actions have been dictated by concern for the fate of Artsakh and its people.
Now our people are going through one of the most complex and heavy periods in their history, but I continue to believe that despite the difficulties and disagreements, we will be able to overcome this phase and build a peaceful and bright future.”
