Israel's President on Potential War with Lebanon
Israel does not wish to start a war with Lebanon, but cannot refrain from responding to the threats posed by the Shiite movement "Hezbollah." This was stated by Israeli President Isaac Herzog in an interview with Sky News.
"Israel is not currently interested in a war with Lebanon. We do not want to enter into a conflict," he said, adding that Lebanon has become a hostage to the terrorist organization and, in a sense, the political party "Hezbollah."
Herzog noted that a dangerous situation has emerged in the region, which could evidently escalate into something more significant. According to him, Israel is not prepared to tolerate the shelling carried out by "Hezbollah," which has forced the Jewish state to evacuate tens of thousands of people from its northern regions.
Speaking about the recent explosions of communication devices in Lebanon, Herzog denied Israel's involvement in the operations. He added that "Hezbollah" has many enemies in the region.
