KP Comments on Why Pashinyan is Apologizing to Citizens
The Republic of Armenia has long been perceived by various countries as a forward post for advancing the interests of other states in the region. This was stated by Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the Civil Contract parliamentary faction, during a parliamentary briefing, referring to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's post on Facebook.
“The Prime Minister has addressed the concept that our political team has been promoting recently. It is about the fact that the Republic of Armenia has for many years been seen as a stronghold for advancing the interests of other countries in the region, under all previous governments and by our foreign partners. And this raises the question of where do the citizens of the Republic of Armenia stand in this narrative, and what should the Armenian people do: remain as a resource to serve the interests of other countries at the cost of their poverty, dispossessions, and corruption, or should they finally break out of this vicious cycle and ensure the life of our citizens within our internationally recognized borders?” Hovhannisyan stated.
He emphasized that citizens of the Republic of Armenia should not be concerned with who has been the leader of the country at different times. “If a citizen has suffered damage from the state, then any leader should bear that responsibility before the citizen. We, as a political team, have taken on that responsibility and apologize, also carrying the burden that all previous authorities have left on our citizens. This is what Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's apology is about,” Hovhannisyan concluded.
