Russia Responds to Armenian Officials' Statements About a Possible Coup
It is astonishing how times change. I have heard from certain political figures in Armenia that seizing power is true democracy. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, while commenting on the search for a Russian trace amid attempts at a coup in Armenia.
"The attempts by several Armenian officials to spin the Investigative Committee's message about thwarting a coup attempt and to find some Russian trace there are absurd and do not withstand any criticism; this is an officially launched fake," Zakharova said.
She emphasized that, unlike the West, Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. Zakharova added, "It is regrettable that certain circles in the republic adopt the plundering tactics of Western countries, which have stimulated anti-Russian sentiments over the past decades by seeking imaginary Russian threats."
Recall that on September 18, the Armenian Investigative Committee announced the suppression of an attempt to seize power in Armenia.
