Azerbaijan Responds to Macron's Statement
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has responded to the statement made by French President Emmanuel Macron during his speech at the UN General Assembly.
Recall that Macron said during his speech that "France stands shoulder to shoulder with Armenia against the backdrop of pressures and Azerbaijan's territorial claims." Baku has accused France of engaging in "destructive activities" in the region. The head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ayhan Hacizade, characterized the French President's statement as unacceptable.
“During his speech at the UN General Assembly on September 25, the statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron, claiming that ‘France stands shoulder to shoulder with Armenia against the backdrop of pressures and territorial demands from Azerbaijan,’ is yet another example of France's biased pro-Armenian stance towards the peace process,” Hacizade protested.
He added that it is unacceptable for Yerevan to accuse France, which is preparing for ‘revanchism’ and conducting large-scale armament, of pressuring the Azerbaijani side. He stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands France to cease its “destructive activities” in the region.
