Iranian President Calls Recent Explosions a Disgrace
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, has termed the recent explosions of pagers in Lebanon a disgrace for Western countries, while also considering these incidents as evidence that the United States supports Israel's "murders and crimes."
Explosions occurred yesterday and today in various regions of Lebanon, resulting in injuries to up to 2,800 people, according to Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abyad. The death toll has reached 12, though the cause of the simultaneous explosions of dozens of devices remains unknown.
According to Iranian state news agency IRNA, Pezeshkian stated, "Such incidents are a disgrace for Western countries, especially the United States, which will stop at nothing to achieve their inhumane goals." He also noted that these incidents demonstrate that Washington supports Tel Aviv in all its "murders and crimes."
Reports from several media outlets indicate that pagers are used by members of the Hezbollah movement as a closed communication system, which is least likely to be breached or tapped. Responsibility for the incidents has been attributed to Israel by both Hezbollah and Lebanese authorities.
