A Man from Voskepar Arrested in the Kidnapping Case of an American Businessman's Wife Goes on Hunger Strike

A 49-year-old resident of the border community of Voskepar, Arkadi Papyan, who is in detention in connection with the kidnapping of an American businessman's wife, has gone on a hunger strike while in custody. This was reported by journalist Voskanyan Sargsyan on his page.

"His demand is to drop the charges brought against him regarding the kidnapping of this woman, as he was unaware that the woman kept in one of the buildings in Voskepar was kidnapped. Residents of Voskepar believe that Arkadi Papyan might not have known that the woman relocated to Voskepar had been kidnapped because he is completely against the abduction of people. He has himself been a victim of such incidents in the past. Years ago, due to Arkadi Papyan's business dealings, two of his brothers were abducted in Russia, one of whom (now deceased) spent a year in abominable conditions during his kidnapping, while the other managed to escape after being abducted.

Arkadi Papyan has three children; his daughters are adults and his son is in school,” the journalist wrote.
