Medvedev Hints at Nuclear Strike to Kyiv
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, has commented on the statements made by Western officials regarding the potential use of nuclear weapons during the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, leaders of Western countries and governments are frequently discussing how events in Ukraine could develop in the future. They believe that Russia would not dare to respond with nuclear weapons.
“Russians talk a lot about responding with weapons of mass destruction, but they do nothing. These are just ‘verbal interventions’. Russians won’t cross the lines; they are just trying to scare,” Medvedev quoted the words of Western representatives.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council noted that in the West, it is believed that Moscow does not need a nuclear conflict, as it could lose the support of the ‘global South’. Medvedev emphasized that a nuclear conflict is something no one wants, as it is “a bad story with the gravest outcomes,” an exceedingly complex decision with irreversible consequences.
“However, the Anglo-Saxons do not want to accept one thing – the end of any patience comes,” Medvedev warned. As a result, he pointed out, the forecasts of Western analysts who have warned that Russia may indeed launch a nuclear strike could be confirmed.
