Germany: It is Time to Discuss Ending the War in Ukraine
Now is the time to accelerate the end of the military conflict in Ukraine, said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an interview with ZDF.
"I believe that now is the moment when we need to discuss how we can exit this war situation and achieve peace faster than it seems right now," he stated.
Scholz also expressed support for Russia's participation in a second "peace summit" and referred to his relations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as good.
The German Chancellor further announced that Germany intends to investigate the explosions of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. He emphasized that those responsible for the diversions will be held accountable.
"It is quite clear to me that this needs to be investigated. I am pleased that the federal prosecutor's office and security agencies have progressed this far in the investigation, as reported by the media. We are in favor of not hiding anything. Everything will be done to ensure that those who did this are held accountable," the Chancellor noted.
Scholz also mentioned that it is time to discuss the end of the conflict in Ukraine. He highlighted that Russia should be present at the next peace conference, adding that Zelensky is in agreement.
