Discussion on the Mandate Resignation of Three Council Members

The Yerevan City Council is discussing the early termination of the mandates of three council members: Grigori Yeritsyan from the "National Progress" faction, as well as Anuish Khudaverdyan and Anush Ginosyan from the "Public Voice" faction.

Yeritsyan stated that during the second session of the fifth convocation of the council, five meetings were held. "It is said that I was absent from four out of five meetings; I was not absent, I attended all meetings, Mr. Tokhyan. Aren't you ashamed of lying from that podium? What has Tigran Avinyan done that you defend this shameful thing?" he said, addressing Marat Tokhyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Legal Affairs.

Tokhyan responded that Yeritsyan should be ashamed for manipulating the facts: "I did not say and I do not say that you were absent from council meetings; the discussion is about the meetings of the Standing Committee on Legal Affairs." Yeritsyan replied, "What manipulation are you talking about? If you cannot draft a bill, resign from your mandates. And you, Mr. Mayor, if you had a little morality and principle, you would remove this proposal."

Mayor Tigran Avinyan recalled a conversation between Yeritsyan and Tokhyan in one of the previous session meetings. "I remember well the context of your conversation with Mr. Tokhyan: You said, 'Mr. Tokhyan, why didn't you bring up the issue of depriving me of my mandate at this meeting?'" Tokhyan replied, "You continue to be absent; I will surely do it."

"Mr. Yeritsyan, you have been absent from 6 out of 7 meetings of the legal committee. You do not even contest this," the mayor stated.
