Trump Makes Statement After Debate
The first televised debate between presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris took place in the United States, organized by ABC News. The debate, held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, could be the only one, as Trump and Harris have not yet been able to agree on holding another similar event.
Similar to the Trump-Biden debate, this meeting did not have an audience present; however, unlike the previous one, the Trump-Harris debate started with a handshake between the opponents.
During the debate, the candidates addressed various topics, including the situation in Ukraine, Putin's "support," as well as the existing economic and immigration issues in the United States, among others. They exchanged mutual accusations and blame.
The microphone was connected only to the speaker at that moment. Each candidate was given two minutes for a statement, another two minutes to respond to questions, and an additional minute for clarifications. The televised debate lasted 1.5 hours, during which Trump spoke for 42 minutes, while Harris spoke for 37 minutes. The candidates were prohibited from bringing notes, consulting with their teams during the debate, and asking each other questions; only the moderators had that right.
At the end of the debate, Trump and Harris did not shake hands. Trump concluded his statement by calling Harris the worst vice president in American history.
After the televised debate, Trump stated that it was the best he has had in his political career. “I think this was my best debate ever, especially considering it was three against one,” he wrote on his Truth Social account.
