Ukraine Warns Iran
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has expressed deep concern over reports in the media regarding the supply of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia. Official Kyiv has stated that if these reports are confirmed, they will have "devastating consequences" for Ukraine-Iran relations.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry also urged the Iranian leadership to refrain from supplying weapons and military equipment to Russia, as well as calling on the international community to "intensify pressure on Tehran and Moscow in the name of peace and security."
The Wall Street Journal and CNN reported that Iran has already sent short-range ballistic missiles to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine, citing intelligence sources.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani, commenting on these reports, stated that Tehran supports a political resolution to address disputes between Russia and Ukraine and to halt military conflicts. "Since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, the Islamic Republic of Iran has never been part of this conflict and its continuation," he noted.
