A New Opposition Force is Forming: 'Hraparak'

With the opposition promising a politically hot autumn and assuring that active actions will resume, there are reports that certain forces and figures have initiated active rearrangements to form a new opposition. They are conducting political consultations aimed at establishing a so-called centrist force, which, according to their calculations, will have significant chances of winning in the upcoming elections—be they regular or extraordinary—since it will not be associated with either the current or former political figures.

This new force aims primarily to unmask the pseudo-Westerners of Armenia. According to our sources, participating in the consultations are former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, former mayor Hayk Marutyan, the Armenian National Congress (ANC), 'Living Country', Suren Surenyants, and several similar forces. We were told that even Edmon Marukyan has been considered for this alliance, but following discussions, it was concluded that his presence could be detrimental by associating the new coalition with Nikol Pashinyan's name.

However, as no clear format has been established yet, and as expected, the politicians unanimously denied the information about the consultations. ANC spokesperson Arman Musinyan stated that there is no such format, while Davit Ananyan claimed he is unaware of it. Edmon Marukyan also mentioned that he regularly meets with the ANC: 'We are both members of ALDE; that’s the format we operate in, while I have not met with others.'
