Ukraine has a new Foreign Minister: Who is replacing Kuleba?
Andrey Sibiga, the first deputy foreign minister of Ukraine, has been appointed as the head of the country's foreign policy department. This was announced by parliamentary member Yaroslav Zheleznyak on his Telegram channel.
He noted that during the parliamentary vote, 258 deputies spoke in favor of Sibiga's appointment as the foreign minister. No one opposed this initiative, although 28 lawmakers chose to abstain.
On September 3, Dmytro Kuleba, who has led Ukraine's foreign policy since 2020, submitted his resignation. At that time, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, stated that the diplomat's request would be discussed at the upcoming full session of parliament.
Two days later, lawmakers approved the dismissal of the foreign minister. Zheleznyak revealed that 240 deputies voted in favor of Kuleba's resignation. Moreover, the diplomat himself decided not to participate in the session.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented his nomination for the position of foreign minister to the Verkhovna Rada, recommending Sibiga for the role.
