New Projects: Both Public and Private Employment Contracts to be Digitized

The government approved the bills on "Amendments and Additions to the Labor Code of the Republic of Armenia" and "Amendments to the Law on Audiovisual Media" during its meeting on August 29.

The adoption of these projects is expected to digitize employment contracts signed in both the public and private sectors through the implementation of a digital system, aimed at improving the protection of workers' rights.

With the basic accessibility of the digital system, the Regulatory Body will have the opportunity to conduct effective oversight, uncovering violations of labor legislation, including breaches of the terms of employment contracts.

Furthermore, the existence of the system will eliminate the established practice in the private sector of signing contracts retroactively, failing to register actual work with the tax authorities (illegal employment), or indicating a salary on the contract less than what is actually provided.

The main advantages of the project include the simplification of the process for signing employment contracts, protection against social risks through the presence of contracts, reflection of payments and allocations, as well as the strengthening of employer obligations towards employees.

The system will enhance accountability in employer-employee relationships and improve and modernize the system for protecting workers' rights. Through the digital system, employees will be able to monitor any changes to their employment contracts, while employers will be unable to modify or refuse the execution of those contracts during state oversight.
