Will Subscribers in Central Yerevan be Compensated for Power Outages? The Response from ELC
The issue of considering the accident at the Yerevan-1 Hydro Power Plant as force majeure has not yet been resolved. This was stated today by Armen Arshakyan, the financial director of 'Armenian Electric Networks' (AEN), to journalists.
According to him, in cases where electricity interruptions exceed the specified norm (4 hours in cities, 8 hours in rural areas), the company provides compensation payments.
'Where interruptions occur due to causes not attributed to us, the authorized bodies must decide whether to classify them as force majeure or not. No decision has yet been made regarding the case you mentioned; the issue is still under discussion,' added Arshakyan.
It is noted that the accident at the Yerevan-1 Hydro Power Plant occurred on July 6. Since then, power outages have become frequent in the Central and Arabkir administrative districts of the capital.
The 'International Energetic Corporation' is carrying out repairs at the plant, while 'Armenian Electric Networks' is repairing the power transmission lines associated with the plant.
