Russian Conflict Participants Promised Land in Crimea

The authorities in Crimea will begin to allocate free plots of land to Russians who sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense through the peninsula's military enlistment offices, regardless of their registration and residence within the country.

"Citizens, regardless of their registration and residence within the territory of the Russian Federation, will have the opportunity to acquire a plot of land in Crimea within the timeframe specified in the contract after the amendments come into force and a contract is signed at the military enlistment office or military service selection points," the message posted on the region's government telegram channel states.

They clarified that citizens who are already registered with local self-government bodies for a plot will not have the right to receive additional land. Plots will also not be granted to those who have already received land for participating in the war on the peninsula.

The law was adopted by the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and will enter into force 10 days after its official publication, officials emphasized.

Previously, only residents of the peninsula were allowed to acquire land in Crimea.
