Lukashenko Does Not Condemn French Authorities' Actions Against Durov
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has stated that he does not condemn the actions of the French authorities against Pavel Durov, the co-founder of Telegram.
“We saw that yesterday in France, it’s better. And I don’t blame them. They are doing the right thing. Whether you’re Durov or not... If you are guilty, go answer for it,” Lukashenko said.
“So why make demands against us when we start to defend ourselves using the same methods they are using?” Lukashenko questioned.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron the situation in Belarus and issues related to the respect for human rights in Europe, including in France, particularly during the brutal suppression of the “yellow vests” protests.
Lukashenko emphasized that future educators should understand the essence of Western democracy and teach it to schoolchildren.
