Iran's Foreign Ministry Highlights the Importance of the Caucasus Region for Tehran
The Caucasus region holds geopolitical and strategic significance for the Islamic Republic of Iran. This was stated by the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, in a post on social media, as he reflected on recent phone conversations with the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Yesterday and today, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia congratulated me via phone. The Caucasus region is of geopolitical and strategic importance for the Islamic Republic of Iran. Historical, cultural, and geographical ties have doubled the importance of expanding relations with the countries in this region,” he wrote.
The newly appointed Iranian foreign minister also had a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart today.
