Video: The Area Affected by the Fire in Rostov Has Reached 10,000 Square Meters
In the city of Proletarsk in the Rostov region, the area affected by a fire that broke out due to the remnants of a Ukrainian drone that crashed on August 18 has reached 10,000 square meters. The information was reported to TASS on Tuesday by the head of the Proletarsk district administration, Valery Gornich.
"The area of the fire is 10,000 square meters; containers with diesel fuel are burning, there is no danger of an explosion, and there is also no threat to people's safety, evacuation is not expected," Gornich stated.
The number of firefighters has increased to 520. "To extinguish the fire, aviation is being prepared today; we will use planes—four Il-76s from Rostov-on-Don will be loaded and will fly in a circle to extinguish the blaze since the fire is very large, and fire trucks cannot approach," the head of the administration noted.
An emergency state is now in effect in the regional center. The regional governor, Vasily Golubev, reported that 41 firefighters, who participated in extinguishing the fire, sought medical attention the previous day, with 18 victims hospitalized and five in intensive care.
