Yerevan Municipality Discusses New Landfill Project with World Bank
The Yerevan Municipality held its regular operational meeting led by Mayor Tigran Avinyan. The discussion addressed various issues related to ongoing projects.
Among the topics was the installation process of a new remote management system for the external lighting network, which will make it easier to resolve control and security issues and will allow for online monitoring of incidents with rapid response.
By the end of the year, the expert examination phase of the new Ajapnyak metro station project will be completed, after which a construction competition will be announced next year.
The Yerevan Municipality is currently in discussions with the World Bank regarding the construction of a new landfill site. This collaboration will not only involve analytical work but also aims to develop a comprehensive investment package.
The municipality plans to enhance the communal collection site with around 250 electric buses.
Residents of Arzumanyan Street buildings 10 and 17, who have been waiting for decades, will receive new apartments. A new building will be constructed on the site of hazardous structures through cooperation between the state, community, and developers.
The statue of Charles Aznavour is being constructed with funds allocated by the Yerevan Municipality. Its unveiling is scheduled for May 22, 2025, as the final ceremony of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous chansonnier.
On August 31 and September 1, the Yerevan Municipality initiated outdoor concert programs, during which the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sergey Smbatyan, will present a concert series titled 'Symphonic Mansuryan' and 'Symphonic Zimmer' at Freedom Square.
From September 17-24, another major project will be implemented by the Yerevan Municipality. The first international symphonic orchestra festival titled 'Yerevan Classic Fest' will take place in an open-air format at Tamanyan Park, with applications submitted by some of the world's best-known orchestras to participate.
The Yerevan Municipality has also launched another significant program. A choral concert based on the 'Book of Lamentations' by the world-renowned composer Alfred Schnittke, written in 1985, is planned to be developed and adapted into a new ballet performance.
