Lithuania Bans Entry of All Passenger Cars Registered in Belarus

Lithuania has imposed an entry ban on all passenger cars registered in Belarus starting from August 16. Previously, several exceptions were in place. This was reported by Belarus' State Border Committee.

“The ban applies to passenger cars regardless of the citizenship of the owner or driver,” the agency added.

From July 18, 2024, Lithuania had already prohibited the entry of passenger cars registered in Belarus, although the restriction did not apply to vehicles intended for sale or those owned by citizens of the Republic who possess a valid passport or temporary or permanent residence permit in EU countries.

According to the Lithuanian Customs Service, “Individuals driving vehicles with Belarusian plates will be considered violators of legislative provisions and will be subject to penalties… which include fines and the confiscation of the vehicle.”
