Assault on the Village Head of Varagavan: Details Emerge
Today, on August 15, operational information was received at the Tavush regional department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the Tavush police station regarding a brawl that occurred in the office of the head of the Varagavan community.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, it was determined that around 16:30, residents of Tavush province, 28-year-old Kalin Manucharyan and 28-year-old Davit Karapetyan, entered the workplace of 42-year-old Armen Abrahamyan, the administrative head of Varagavan, and began discussing domestic issues. This conversation quickly escalated into an argument, during which Manucharyan claimed that the landowners of the village were themselves and started insulting Abrahamyan. He then assaulted him, delivering blows to his face and causing bodily harm before fleeing the scene.
While injured, Abrahamyan pursued Manucharyan in his VAZ 2121 vehicle towards the Varagavan secondary school. During this chase, a resident of Tavush, 37-year-old Karen Mirzoyan, and Manucharyan’s uncle, 56-year-old Aram Manucharyan, blocked his path on the Berd-Varagavan highway with Mirzoyan's Mercedes. Aram Manucharyan, emerging from the passenger seat with a firearm, began threatening Abrahamyan, claiming he would kill him. He then cocked his firearm, leading to a physical altercation between them. During the struggle, Abrahamyan managed to seize the firearm from Manucharyan, after which Aram attempted to stab Abrahamyan with a knife, without success. Mirzoyan then escaped in the Mercedes.
The police are taking necessary measures to locate Kalin Manucharyan, Aram Manucharyan, and Karen Mirzoyan. The firearm has been presented to the investigator.
