This Visit Carries a Strong Message: O'Brien Arrives in Kyiv

The Deputy Secretary of State of the United States, James O'Brien, arrived in Kyiv yesterday. The U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, welcomed O'Brien’s visit to Kyiv, emphasizing that "this visit carries a strong message."

"U.S. support for Ukraine remains unwavering," the ambassador wrote on X. The Deputy Secretary of State met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba to discuss security issues and the importance of Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO.

Yesterday, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that Ukraine's actions within Russian territory have created a "serious dilemma" for Vladimir Putin. Biden noted that members of his administration are in constant contact with the Ukrainian side and are regularly updated on the situation.

Large-scale military operations have been ongoing in the Kursk region for eight days now. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that 74 settlements are under the control of the country's armed forces. The acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, previously stated that Ukrainian armed forces have captured 28 settlements in the area. The accuracy of these reports cannot be verified from independent sources.
