US Lifts Ban on Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia, Bombs to be Supplied Soon: WSJ

The United States has lifted the ban on arms sales to Saudi Arabia, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. In the coming months, Saudi Arabia is set to receive 3,000 small-diameter bombs and 7,500 precision-guided Paveway IV bombs from the US.

“The Biden administration will supply Saudi Arabia with bombs worth over $750 million in the coming months,” the publication writes, citing official sources in Washington and Riyadh.

In 2021, the State Department temporarily halted the execution of certain military transactions without providing details. Later, the New York Times reported that Washington intended to suspend the sale of offensive weapons to Saudi Arabia.

In December 2023, citing American officials, the New York Times reported that the US plans to relax restrictions on the sale of certain types of weapons to Saudi Arabia amid the potential escalation in the region due to the Palestine-Israel conflict.
