Japan's Prime Minister to Resign in September

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has announced that he will not run for re-election as president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in September. This decision indicates his departure after three years in office.

According to reports by the Kyodo agency, Kishida stated, "As a first step to show the public that the Liberal Democratic Party has changed, I have decided not to participate in the presidential election," during a press conference.

He did not disclose who he envisions as the next president of the party and the country's prime minister.
