Armenian Ambassador in Ukraine Has Been Acting Illegally for Two Months: 'Hayrapet'

The newspaper 'Hayrapet' reports that more than two months have passed since the term of Armenia's Ambassador to Ukraine, Vladimir Karapetyan, expired. Karapetyan was appointed as the Ambassador of Armenia in Ukraine on June 1, 2021, with an official decree specifying a three-year term, meaning that he has not had the authority for over two months now.

However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has not issued any new decree regarding either his recall or the extension of his term. The President of Armenia also has not signed a new decree. This indicates that our ambassador in Ukraine is operating illegally, without the necessary legal basis.

We asked the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ani Badalyan, whether Karapetyan's term had been extended, and the spokesperson promised to respond 'as soon as an answer is available.'
