Baku Disturbed by Pezeshkian's Proposal to Strike Israeli Sites in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani APA agency has reported on Baku's concerns regarding an article from the British publication The Telegraph, in which Pezeshkian suggested hitting Israeli sites in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani side generally believes that this is fake news and misinformation. It is noted that these assurances, which came from the new Iranian President Pezeshkian, have, of course, been received with some anxiety in Azerbaijan. However, according to official sources in Azerbaijan, the government believes that this statement, attributed to the Iranian president, is fake.

“Some circles have begun to be concerned about the normalization of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan and wish to disrupt this process. Against the backdrop of the new Iranian president being of Azerbaijani descent and having a warm attitude towards Azerbaijan, there may be forces inside and outside Iran that wish to sabotage these relations. It would be good if the Iranian side would respond to these assurances, refute them, and put an end to the doubts,” sources within the Azerbaijani government informed the media.

It is worth recalling that earlier the British publication wrote that Iranian generals claim that a direct strike would be made against Tel Aviv, but the new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, suggests targeting Israeli secret sites in neighboring countries to Iran.
