US, Qatar, and Egypt Urge Israel and Hamas to Resume Negotiations
The authorities of the US, Qatar, and Egypt have called on Israel and Hamas to resume negotiations regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages held by the movement in the Gaza Strip. According to a joint statement from the parties, negotiations could take place on August 15 in Doha or Cairo to resolve all outstanding issues and to implement agreed-upon arrangements.
The leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and the US have expressed their willingness to present a final draft of the ceasefire agreement, based on the principles proposed by Joe Biden and backed by the UN Security Council.
The statement reads: “This is not the time for justifications for backtracking. This applies to both sides.”
It has been noted that the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel will send a delegation for negotiations regarding the Gaza Strip on August 15. The Israeli side has indicated that the venue for the meeting is yet to be agreed upon.
