Japanese Prime Minister Cancels Central Asia Visit Due to Strong Earthquake Threat
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has canceled his planned visit to Central Asia on Friday. The reason is an unprecedented warning about a high risk of a major earthquake along the Pacific coastal region. This was reported by Reuters.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued its first warning on Thursday regarding the danger of a powerful earthquake along the country's Pacific coast, following a 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the southwestern island of Kyushu.
"I have decided to remain in the country for the next week to ensure that our preparations and communications are in order. I believe people will be concerned about this. Therefore, I decided to cancel my planned visit to Central Asia and Mongolia," Kishida stated at a press conference.
It is worth noting that the visit to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia was originally scheduled from Friday to Monday.
