Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina's Son Discusses Mother's Plans to Return Home

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will not seek asylum in other countries and will return home when the interim government decides to hold elections in the country. This was stated by her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, as reported by The Times of India.

According to him, his mother has no intention of requesting political asylum. “She is currently in India. She will return to Bangladesh as soon as the interim government decides to hold elections,” said the politician's son. He expressed gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “saving his mother's life in such a short time.”

Recall that on August 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned and left Bangladesh. On the same day, she flew to India. According to Indian publication The Free Press Journal, the former prime minister requested asylum from the United Kingdom, but due to the lack of response from British authorities, she considered seeking asylum in Belarus, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Finland.
