Four-time European champion and three-time bronze medalist at the World Championships, freestyle wrestler Arsen Harutyunyan defeated Mexican Roman Bravo-Young 13-3 in the Round of 16 at the Olympic Games, advancing to the quarterfinals.

This is Harutyunyan's second participation in the Olympic Games.

It should be noted that Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan, an Olympic gold, silver, and bronze medalist, as well as a four-time world and seven-time European champion in the 97 kg weight category, has become the Olympic silver medalist for the second time in his career.
