Video: Arsen Harutyunyan Loses to Uzbek Gulomjon Abdulayev in Quarterfinals

During the 33rd Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, on August 8, world three-time bronze medalist, four-time European champion, and two-time U23 world champion Arsen Harutyunyan (57 kg) faced a setback in the second round.

In the quarterfinals, Harutyunyan competed against Uzbek wrestler Gulomjon Abdulayev and lost with a score of 12:5. In the first round, Arsen Harutyunyan scored one point before his opponent took the lead with a two-point move. After adding two points to his tally, Abdulayev extended the score to 6:3 with a four-point move.

In the second round, Abdulayev scored two rolls quickly, making the score 10:3. In response, Arsen Harutyunyan launched an offensive, taking down his opponent and bringing the score to 10:7 in favor of Abdulayev.

The Uzbek wrestler’s corner challenged a point, which the referees accepted, deducting two points from Harutyunyan's score. Before the match concluded, the Uzbek wrestler managed to earn two more points. The bout ended with Abdulayev's victory at 12:5.

In the earlier 1/8 finals, Harutyunyan had defeated Mexico's Roman Bravo-Yang with a score of 13:3.
