VIDEO. Paris 2024: Swedish Pole Vaulter Sets World Record at Olympic Games
Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis set a new world record and became the winner of the Paris Olympic Games. Duplantis first surpassed the Olympic record by achieving a result of 6.10 meters. He exceeded the previous record held by Brazilian Thiago Braz, which was set at the Rio de Janeiro Games.
On his third attempt, he cleared the bar at a height of 6.25 meters, surpassing his own earlier mark of 6.24 meters established on April 20 at the Diamond League event in Xiamen, China.
The silver medal was won by American Sam Kendricks with a height of 5.95 meters, while the bronze went to Greek Emanuel Karalis at 5.90 meters.
Duplantis has now become a double Olympic champion. The 24-year-old athlete is also a two-time world champion indoors and outdoors.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
