Charges Filed Against Official of Artashat Municipality; He Is Detained

Charges have been brought against an official of the Artashat Municipality. This was confirmed to Sputnik Armenia by the press service of the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee.

"We confirm that a municipal official of Artashat has been charged with assisting in particularly large-scale fraud and causing particularly large-scale property damage through the abuse of official powers. The investigator from the Anti-Corruption Committee has submitted a motion to the court to select detention as a measure of restraint, which has been granted," the Anti-Corruption Committee stated.

It should be noted that according to information circulated in the media, five individuals have been detained in connection with the corruption case. There are rumors that the detained official from the Artashat Municipality is an assistant to the Mayor of Artashat, Karlen Mkrtchyan.
